Josh has pumped out his first round of edits on the manuscript. We went from 104k words down to 95k, but due to his insightful suggestions we’re back up into the 105k ballpark.
Such is life.
I want to ensure, regardless of size, that Forge of Valor is as efficient and effective as possible. Every segment, section, chapter, and word is being critically analyzed individually and how it contributes to the entire project.
The design goal behind FoV is to be a creative tool to facilitate the RPG experience. The system, the setting, and now the book have been constructed with this goal in mind.
Good editing, and by extension good game design, is about how to do more with less. One of the major impediments to RPGs in general is the amount of time necessary for system digestion, mastery, and comprehension. I want to cut that down to the bare minimum for FoV. Josh likes to call it a “low-friction” entry, and that’s exactly what we’re going for.
